VALENTIN MAYR

JELMER DE HAAN

Jelmer is an all-around bass player, meaning that he tries to adapt his style of playing to fit all types of music and every circumstance.

Improvisation is always a key component of his playing, as well as groove. Aside from being a 'side man', which he enjoys a lot, his personal style explores all the possibilities of the instrument and music in general.

In 2015 Jelmer graduated with a degree in Jazz. He studied at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen (NL) and did an exchange year at the HMT Leipzig (GER). His teachers included, amongst others: Richie Beirach, Gene Jackson, Robin Eubanks and Alex Sipiagin.

After his studies he moved to Berlin, where he plays with many Jazz and Pop outfits.

Valentin is a composer, drummer, piano player and teacher.

Creativity, ideas in music, and building an unique musical voice were always the most important thing for him. After playing drums and piano as a session/sub musician over the past years, he founded some of his own projects and became primarily a composer and producer.

After one year of Jazz studies at the Cologne JazzHausSchule (GER), Valentin went to Hamburg (GER) and studied pop drums at the School Of Music. During his time as a student, he learned from Andre Nendza, Sven Kacirek, Helge Zumdiek and many others.

Today he is living in Berlin, where he is playing, composing and producing music in different projects and styles. That includes: Electronic Music, Jazz/Fusion, Pop, Rock and other styles.
